Davidson -8.5 (#54) over Duquesne (#276)
Too easy? It feels like it, but still couldn’t pass it up. Davidson is 22-4 (12-2) and 1st in the A10 while Duquesne is at the bottom of the conference, sitting at 6-19 (1-12). In their meeting on Valentine’s day, Davidson still won 72-61 as 14 point favorites even with them shooting well below their season average and Duquesne being above theirs.
When looking at the season numbers, the gap between these two teams is staggering. Davidson is 12th in the country in FG% (48.5%) and 7th in 3PT FG% (39.1%), while Duquesne is near the bottom of the country at 346th (39.8%) and 318th (30.7%). The two teams are pretty even when it comes to rebounding and eliminating turnovers, but Davidson moves the ball much better averaging 14.8 (69th) assists per game versus Duquesne’s average of 9.6 (354th).
In Davidson’s last game, they destroyed a solid Saint Louis (#59) team by 21 while Duquesne is riding a 12 game losing streak, including losing to St. Bonaventure (#84) by 26 and George Washington (#226) by 21 in their two most recent games. The change of venue doesn’t worry me as Davidson plays just as well on the road as at home (8-1 away record) while home court advantage doesn’t seem to do much for Duquesne (3-9 home record).
All signs point to Davidson to win by double digits tonight, so I’m rolling with the Wildcats to cover with ease. Follow along on the Action app here (all verified picks), Twitter @itsafullcount, or Facebook.
