Duke (#12) -5.5 over Notre Dame (#66) and Under 143.5
First off, I obviously love Duke to win outright, and anytime we can avoid the 7-10 range and stay in 5-6 it helps in end of game fouling scenarios and backdoor covers for the favorite. Notre Dame is undefeated at home, but their level of competition there leaves a lot to be desired. They’ve taken down CSUN (#319), High Point (#254), Western Michigan (#328), Texas A&M-CC (#259), UNC (#34), Clemson (#62), NC State (#109), and Virginia (#93).
Duke on the other hand has one big quality win that stands over anything the Fighting Irish have been able to accomplish this season, a 3 point victory over Gonzaga (#1). Despite Notre Dame being undefeated at home, the discrepancy between these two teams is too large for me to ignore based on their level of competition, so I like the Blue Devils to win and cover.
As far as the total goes, Notre Dame plays at about as slow a pace as any team in the country (T316th). I think they’ll make a strong effort at home to control the pace of the game as much as they can, making this a game finishing in the 60’s rather than the 70’s.
