NFL MVP race, where’s the value?

So 13 weeks are in the book and we have 5 left for the MVP race to finish shaking out. Not shockingly, Tom Brady has the best odds at +250, followed by Josh Allen at +450, Rodgers at +600, Mahomes at +900, and Kyler Murray rounding out the top 5 at +1000 (all odds via OddsShark).

Following the top 5, there’s guys like Dak, Stafford, JT, LJ, and Herbert between+1400 and +1800, but I don’t see any chance of these guys doing enough in the final weeks to seriously get back into the conversation. With that being said, I still think there’s a good chance Brady gets his 4th regular season MVP with his impressive season at age 44, but both +250 and Tom Brady are no fun so let’s take a look at some of the other value plays.

As of now, the two I like the most are Aaron Rodgers at +600 and Kyler Murray at +1000. If it’s not Brady, I have a gut feeling it will be the QB of the #1 seed in the NFC, which should certainly be one of these two teams. I’m a little worried some woke voters may hold a grudge against Rodgers, but if we’re truly giving it to the most valuable player, I think both Rodgers and Murray proved how vital they are to their team’s success in their absences. I also like Mahomes as a dark horse if he lights up the world like we’ve been used to the last five games and lock up the #1 seed for the Chiefs, but I still think voters would be more likely to give it Rodgers or Murray as Mahomes likely has several more coming.
