Saturday CFB Picks – 10/27/21

Welcome back for a couple more of my weekly picks. I try to write about different teams every week so even if you aren’t betting you can still get a taste of everyone around the country. Or at the very least, you will get to read what I think about your team. I love Ole Miss given points for obvious reasons (Matt Corral Stan). But that’s my fair warning on why you are seeing a short blurb about the Rutgers game, just to sprinkle in some everything. Building off a hot week last week, let’s get it rollin’.

Rutgers/Illinois, Rutgers -1.5 (12PM EST)

Rutgers has been so unfortunate this year, but I think this is a game they can get back on the road. They started the season off strong and I think have just had a tough stretch of games where they simply aren’t as talented. Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State and then just a crazy loss to Northwestern who is right in their wheelhouse. I wouldn’t be surprised if Schiano shifted to their backup quarterback after the bye week to get something going offensively which could rally the troops on that side. Defensively, like I said the numbers look bad, but they’ve also played three AP top 10 teams in the country in their last four.

I think Illinois’ pass game is nonexistent and their run game should be matched in some capacity from this Scarlet Knight defense. After a week to regroup, I’ll take Rutgers -1.5.

SMU/Houston, SMU ML -110 (7PM EST)

I don’t know if you’ve heard about SMU lately, but their offense has been performing as one of the most powerful in the country averaging over 525 yards a game and just about 43 points per game. They are completing 71% of their passes at the moment which is an absolutely insane stat. Houston has a decent team and has been playing well this season as they are 6-1. However, their defense is what has been keeping them in games lately. They forced 3 turnovers in their sneaky win over East Carolina to take that one. I think Houston’s offense on the other hand isn’t very successful and has a lot of pressure taken off usually by that defense. SMU is just too high powered and will be scoring at an alarming rate. They are undefeated and I have no reason to bet against them this week, a road underdog is all I can think of but that isn’t scaring me away. Take the ML in this pick em’ game.

Oregon State/California, Oregon State -1.5 (7PM EST)

THE BEAVS! That should be all you need to bet on this team if you aren’t on board already. Back to Back weeks I’m writing about this fun team. Like I said, they run the ball and take control of the clock. Last week against a hot Utah squad, BJ Baylor had 19 carries for 152 yards and their defense and special teams showed up down the stretch to get a huge win. They got two turnover on downs and basically forced a long missed FG in the second half to get the job done. Not to mention their opponent Cal is 2-5 all season and has an average offense at best. I think Oregon State runs away with it and keeps a hot streak going to try and win the Pac-12. Take the Beavs, Take the Beavs, Take the Beavs. Ride or die! -1.5

Bonus: Kentucky -1, Ole Miss +3, Charlotte +17.5, Florida State +9.5, Georgia Tech -4, Pittsburgh -9
