Inspired by Mike Leach’s epic rant (https://youtu.be/WLprCS6W1BU), it’s time to do a series on what a battle would look like between the mascots within each division, starting with the AFC West.
So I learned today the Chargers got their name, and I quote, “general manager, Frank Leahy, picked the Chargers name when he purchased an AFL franchise for Los Angeles: “I liked it because they were yelling ‘charge’ and sounding the bugle at Dodger Stadium and at USC games.”
So in this all out mascot war scenario, the Chargers would be a bunch of dudes running and yelling charge. Their deadliest weapon would be a bugle. Sounds about right. Chargers are done first just like most seasons.
That leaves the Broncos, Chiefs, and Raiders. A bronco couldn’t do much besides trample someone and both the Raiders and Chiefs would be equipped with weapons to take it down and avoid that. Final showdown between Chiefs and Raiders.
Similar to Week 5, the Raiders would get the best out of the Chiefs in this head to head mascot matchup.
A tomahawk or arrow won’t be enough to withstand the violent onslaught of the savage Raiders, so while they haven’t won the AFC West since 2002, they can have mascot war crown.
Coming up next: AFC East.
